Kalamkaval: Mammootty’s Performance Wins Fans’ Hearts, Call It ‘Blockbuster’

Malayalam superstar Mammootty is back on the big screen, and fans couldn’t be happier. His latest outing, ‘Kalamkaval’, a crime thriller directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, opened in theatres today, earning early praise for Mammootty’s “devilish” performance as a negative character. Netizens flooded social media with positive reactions, with many calling it a potential blockbuster.

In the film, Mammootty shares the screen with Vinayakan, whose character also made a strong impression in the teaser. The supporting cast includes Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, and Shruti Ramachandran. The trailer for ‘The Devil’, directed by Prakash Veer and starring Darshan and Rachana Rai, was released today ahead of its December 11 release in Karnataka. The film, produced by Shri Jaimatha Combines with Saregama, promises a gripping tale of power, vengeance, and true love.

Director Prakash Veer has described ‘The Devil’ as a “terrifying showcase” for Darshan, who is currently amid a high-profile trial, while distributors have secured maximum screens to meet expected demand. With Mammootty’s Kalamkaval already earning rave reviews and Darshan’s The Devil generating buzz ahead of its release, December is shaping up to be an exciting month for South Indian cinema.
