Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, affiliated with Erth Zayed Philanthropies, is participating in the 34th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which will take place from 26 April to 5 May 2025 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The Award’s General Secretariat will present at a dedicated pavilion showcasing its latest scientific publications in Arabic and English, focusing on date palm cultivation, production, and agricultural innovation.
The participation also highlights the Award’s ongoing efforts to advance the date palm sector and promote national, regional, and international agricultural innovation.
This participation reaffirms the Award’s commitment to disseminating specialised knowledge and sharing the results of successful research and practical experiences that benefit the agricultural sector in the UAE and the world, where it aligns with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership in promoting a culture of innovation and sustainability.
The Award’s General Secretariat has announced the launch of seven new books as part of its annual publications during the Award’s Winners Honouring ceremony, in its 17th session, 2025.
These publications will be introduced to the public at the exhibition, which includes specialised studies in various fields such as:
1. “Date Palm Cultivation” book (Arabic edition), published in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).
2. “Date Palm Cultivation” book (English edition), published in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).
3. The “Glossary of biotechnology for food and agriculture” book, published in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).
4. The “Date Palm Cultivation in Mexico” book in Spanish, in collaboration with the Sonora State University, and Dr. Ricardo Salomon Torres.
5. The “Food Industries from Dates” book in Arabic, in collaboration with Prof. Hassan Khaled Al Oqaidi.
6. The “Organic Agriculture” book in English, in collaboration with Prof. Magdy Mohamed Qenawy.
7. The “Mejhoul Variety: The Jewel of Dates” book in the Indonesian language, in collaboration with the Indonesian Kalimantan Date Palm Association, where the “Mejhoul Variety” book is now globally available in five languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Indonesian.
These publications are backed by solid scientific credibility, as they were prepared with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers, academics, and international experts. They are part of a comprehensive vision aimed at documenting best practices and encouraging farmers and agricultural institutions to adopt sustainable solutions.
Dr. Abdelouahhab Alboukhari Zaid, Award’s Secretary-General, confirmed in a statement that the Award’s General Secretariat’s participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair represents a vital opportunity to connect with the specialists in the agricultural field. It aims to highlight the intellectual role the Award plays in supporting the date palm tree, not only through the awards and festivals but also through publications and scientific documentation that enhance its institutional impact and enrich both the Arab and global libraries.
Dr. Zaid urged visitors to the fair to visit the Award’s booth to explore the new publications, emphasising that the Award is committed to reinforcing its developmental, environmental, and humanitarian message through the platform of books as a tool for positive influence and change.
