The King Fahd Causeway Authority released news on February 2, it has introduced new travel packages under the Causeway app with a 40 percent discount on toll charges.

A Saudi Gazette report said that the shift precedes an anticipated toll fee hike that will be applied on February 18, 2026, which will mark a major revision of the cost structure of one of the busiest cross-border routes within the region.

The new packages were announced soon after the authority revised the toll rates of vehicles using the causeway. The Saudi Gazette report indicated that the new arrangement will increase the toll to SAR35 on cars and motorcycles, SAR55 on minibuses, SAR70 on large buses, and SAR7 per ton for trucks.

The authority made it clear that the toll increment will not be incurred on students, persons with disabilities, and frequent daily passengers, highlighting the efforts to reduce the financial load imposed on the most significant user categories.

Existing statistics indicate that the bridge crossing charge on small cars is at present SAR25, after it was raised to SAR20, which was introduced at the start of the year 2016. This increase was the first in the toll since the King Fahd Causeway was inaugurated in 1986.

In order to compensate for the increased toll rates, the authority came up with three package offers that seek to accommodate the different travel patterns. The Frequent Traveler Package provides up to 40 percent off, and it is aimed at travelers crossing the bridge on a daily or almost daily basis.

However, the package costs SAR850 and is applicable within one month or 40 crossings, either one-way or round trip. There is a second Frequent Traveler Package that offers discounts to occasional travelers of up to 20 percent on crossing the causeway at intervals.

This alternative is SAR1,120 and is applicable within one year or when 40 crossings have been made. The third alternative is a round-trip package, which attracts a 15 percent discount. It costs SAR60 and is valid for one week from the day the first crossing occurs or the first two crossings, whichever occurs earlier.
