Meta announced on Wednesday that it is breaking ground on a $10 billion data centre in Indiana, as it moves to secure the vast computing capacity required to advance its artificial intelligence ambitions.
The company said the facility will provide 1 gigawatt of capacity once fully operational. According to US power grid operators, that amount of power is enough to supply roughly 800,000 homes.
In November, Meta stated that it plans to invest $600 billion in U.S. infrastructure and jobs over the next three years, with data centres forming a key part of that commitment.
