The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in partnership with global biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, has launched the “Mental Health 360” campaign to boost community awareness of mental health and reinforce quality of life as a national priority.
The campaign adopts a holistic approach that links physical and mental well-being, aligning with the UAE’s vision for sustainable health.
The initiative was unveiled at an event held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dubai, attended by Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, along with healthcare professionals and specialists.
“Mental Health 360” supports the UAE’s strategic direction to strengthen prevention, integrate care pathways, and promote comprehensive health responses during the “Year of the Family.”
The campaign also builds on MoHAP’s ongoing efforts to advance a comprehensive mental health framework and establish a unified, integrated healthcare model. This approach is driven by public awareness, evidence-based policymaking, and enhanced partnerships with the private sector to support the community’s psychological well-being.
The initiative seeks to expand public understanding of mental health, emphasising that it extends beyond a single condition to include a broad spectrum of disorders and challenges. It also aligns with the goals of the UAE’s National Policy for the Promotion of Mental Health.
Dr. Hussain Al Rand reaffirmed that mental health is a core pillar of the national health strategy, rooted in the belief that physical and mental health are interconnected.
He explained that the “Mental Health 360” campaign promotes an integrated model that embeds psychological support at every stage of the healthcare journey and across all preventive initiatives. This approach ensures a comprehensive and sustainable health response, supports the objectives of the Year of the Family, and reinforces the shared responsibility of institutions and society in raising awareness and fostering supportive environments.
Dr. Al Rand also stressed that developing a strong, integrated mental healthcare system requires effective public-private partnerships to help shape a future in which individuals enjoy complete health and long-term well-being.
Dr. Buthaina Bin Belaila, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease and Mental Health Department at MoHAP, said the global move toward a holistic approach to mental health has become a strategic necessity to improve quality of life, particularly for patients with chronic conditions.
She added that through the “Mental Health 360” campaign, the ministry aims to raise awareness and strengthen positive communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Meanwhile, Hussein Abdullatif, General Manager, AbbVie Gulf & Levant, said, “Today, with the launch of the Mental Health 360 campaign, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening mental health as a national priority. Working alongside MoHAP, healthcare professionals and community partners, we aspire to build a more inclusive and sustainable future in which mental health is a foundation for a society capable of surmounting challenges.
Furthermore, Mohammad Aboubakr, Regional Vice President Middle East, Africa & Russia CIS at AbbVie, added, “Raising mental health standards is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation. Our partnership with the Ministry of Health and Prevention and other stakeholders enables us to confront challenges, break stigma and reach those who need support most. Investing in mental health is, above all, an investment in people, and through our collaboration, we seek to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable transformation in the health and well-being of our communities.
