Mubadala Investment Company, in partnership with global early-stage investor Antler and Abu Dhabi’s tech ecosystem Hub71, has launched the National Founders Program, a six-week initiative designed to transform breakthrough university research into commercially viable startups.
The program positions Abu Dhabi as a hub for research-led innovation by combining Mubadala’s investment strength, Antler’s expertise in venture building, and Hub71’s scaling platform. Participants will receive structured access to mentors, domain experts, and investors, along with founder-focused services such as regulatory support, soft-landing solutions, and tailored go-to-market strategies.
Ali AlMheiri, Executive Director of Diversified Assets at Mubadala, said the initiative underscores the company’s mandate to “incubate high-growth sectors that strengthen Abu Dhabi’s knowledge economy and create a positive impact on communities.”
Romain Assuncao, Managing Partner at Antler MENAP, added that the program highlights Abu Dhabi’s potential as a regional hub for research-led startups, while Ahmad Ali Alwan, CEO of Hub71, emphasized its role in equipping local talent with the networks and expertise needed to scale globally.
Targeting high-potential research talent from leading UAE universities, the program will also foster collaboration between startups and established corporates, opening pathways for piloting, co-development, and strategic partnerships. This corporate collaboration is seen as a key differentiator in driving the commercialization of academic innovation.
The launch follows Mubadala’s earlier investment in Antler and further advances Abu Dhabi’s long-term strategy of diversifying its economy through innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-driven sectors.
