Muslim Council Of Elders Hails Pakistan-Afghanistan Ceasefire Deal

The Muslim Council of Elders, led by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling it a key step toward reducing tensions and promoting regional peace and stability.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Council praised both countries for heeding calls for reason, wisdom, and human conscience, in line with Islamic principles that prioritize the preservation of life, neighbourly relations, and dialogue over conflict.

The Council urged full compliance with the agreement’s terms and emphasized the protection of civilians to advance shared security, development, and stability.

It reaffirmed support for initiatives aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, while commending the diplomatic efforts of Qatar and Türkiye for fostering constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, helping fulfill the aspirations of the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan for peace and development.
