Oman’s Madayn To Invest $637 Million In Industrial Cities Development Projects By 2030

Its top official reported that Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) intends to spend over RO245 million ($637 million) on infrastructure and development projects in the industrial cities of Oman by 2026-2030 as part of its endeavors to increase investment and foster an economic diverse shift.

Madayn CEO Dawood bin Salim Al Hadabi, while highlighting its expanded phased plan for 2026–2030, said these projects form part of an expanded phased plan aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and Madayn’s long-term “Madayn 2040” strategy.

This strategy will help to consolidate the industrial base of the country and create economic development in the governorates of Oman.

Madayn said that the programme consists of approximately 90 strategic projects targeted at upgrading infrastructure, industrial city development, and enhancement of the business environment.

These include comprehensive rehabilitation and infrastructure upgrades at Suhar Industrial City; service enhancements and Phase 1 infrastructure work at Al Suwaiq Industrial City; integrated facility establishment and infrastructure rehabilitation at Al Wadi Al Kabir Industrial City; marine facility development and strengthened mining and petrochemical sectors at Sur Industrial City as well as Phase 4 implementation and commercial zone enhancement at Raysut Industrial City; infrastructure works at Al Mudhaibi and Thumrait Industrial Cities.

It reported that the scope of work includes residential area rehabilitation and Phase 5 expansion at Nizwa Industrial City; residential and commercial zone development at Al Rusayl Industrial City; Phase 4 implementation and commercial zone enhancement at Raysut Industrial City; infrastructure works at Al Mudhaibi and Thumrait Industrial Cities; integrated service facility establishment at Ibri Industrial City, and full infrastructure development for an integrated industrial environment at Madha Industrial City.

Madayn indicates that the 2026-2030 plan was developed based on three core pillars, including development and operations, institutional excellence, and environmental protection.

It covers 24 institutional programmes and approximately 90 projects that aim to increase industrial capacity, attract investment, serve small and medium-sized enterprises, and promote digital transformation and environmental sustainability.

Madayn claimed that the plan will also allow the application of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and partnerships with the public and the private sector to boost industrial development.

Some of the strategic projects envisioned in the coming four years include a 97MW solar photovoltaic power plant at Sohar Industrial City and the establishment of an integrated economic cluster in the mining sector.

Al Hadabi stated that Madayn aims to complete and operate the Central 7 building at Knowledge Oasis Muscat and to develop the residential area called the “Uptown” at Al Rusayl Industrial City.
