Dubai Police have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking network in a major sting known as Operation “Villa”, which led to the arrest of two Asian gang members operating from a residential villa in the city. The suspects were working under the orders of a drug trafficker based outside the UAE.
The operation began after intelligence revealed that a criminal group was distributing drugs from inside the villa. A dedicated task force was formed, carrying out detailed investigations and surveillance to monitor the suspects and understand their movements and tactics.
The first major breakthrough came when one of the gang members was tricked into a trap and arrested. During questioning, he confessed and revealed the identity of his accomplice. Police then conducted a second sting operation and arrested the second suspect while he was caught in the act, packaging narcotics for distribution.
A search of the villa uncovered 40 kilograms of illegal substances, including ketamine, crystal meth, marijuana, hashish oil, and other chemicals and liquids used in drug production and trafficking.
Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, said the operation highlights the force’s advanced crime-fighting capabilities, combining artificial intelligence tools with highly trained officers. He emphasized the ongoing commitment of Dubai Police to protect the community and take down criminal networks, even those led from outside the country.
Brig. bin Muwaiza also urged the public to take an active role in the fight against drugs by reporting any suspicious activity through Dubai Police’s 901 call center or the “Police Eye” feature on the Dubai Police Smart App.
