Over 22,000 Residency & Border Violators Arrested In Saudi Arabia In Nationwide Crackdown

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of 22,021 individuals for immigration violations during raids conducted across the Kingdom between August 29 and September 4. The arrests were part of joint security campaigns by law enforcement and various government agencies.

Of the total arrests, 14,508 were for violating residency laws, 4,511 for breaking border security laws, and 3,002 for labor law violations. Additionally, 998 people were detained while attempting to cross the border into Saudi Arabia, with 39% being Yemeni nationals, 60% Ethiopian nationals, and 1% from other countries. Authorities also apprehended 41 individuals trying to leave the country illegally.

In the crackdown, 11 individuals were arrested for involvement in transporting, sheltering, or employing violators. Presently, 15,108 expatriates—13,996 men and 1,112 women—are undergoing legal procedures. Of those, 5,917 have been referred to their diplomatic missions for travel documents, 2,249 have been directed to complete travel reservations, and 11,242 have already been deported.

The Ministry of Interior issued a stern warning to anyone aiding in the illegal entry, transportation, or harboring of unauthorized persons, stating that such actions could result in penalties of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of SAR 1 million, and the confiscation of vehicles and properties used in these illegal activities.

The public has been encouraged to report any violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 and 996 in other regions.
