Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) transported more than 2.8 million passengers during the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations, recording ridership growth of over 13% compared to the previous year.
This achievement was the result of a comprehensive traffic and operational plan that included traffic management measures and temporary road closures across the emirate. The plan was implemented in close coordination with the Dubai Event Security Committee, along with relevant authorities and strategic partners. The outcomes highlight the efficiency and preparedness of Dubai’s transport system in ensuring seamless mobility and public safety, further strengthening the city’s status as a global hub capable of hosting major events to the highest international standards.
The total number of passengers using public transport, taxis, e-hailing services, and shared mobility options during the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations exceeded 2,836,859. This represents a 13% increase compared to New Year’s Eve 2025, when ridership reached 2,502,474 passengers.
Dubai Metro’s Red and Green Lines served 1,249,636 passengers, while the Dubai Tram carried 58,052 riders. Public buses and bus-on-demand services transported 503,264 passengers throughout the night. Taxi services recorded 661,538 passengers, and marine transport modes carried a total of 76,745 users. E-hailing services served 286,135 passengers, while shared mobility services transported 1,489 users.
RTA confirmed that the approved traffic and operational plan played a key role in facilitating the safe and efficient movement of residents and visitors to celebration areas, supported by integrated coordination with concerned authorities and strategic partners across Dubai.
