Qatar ports (Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha) have experienced a strong increase in December last year, with the cargoes and container volumes processed in the period registering an increase on an annual basis compared to 2024.

The general and bulk cargo processed by the ports in December 2025 increased by 64 percent over the same period in 2024. Mwani Qatar stated in a post on its X (formerly known as Twitter) that almost 111,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) were processed, as well as about 13,000 RORO units and more than 28,500 heads of livestock.

Therefore, the ports in the country got 226 vessels in December 2025, while the container handling through the three ports remained at 110,784 TEUs. The general and bulk cargo, RORO, and livestock within the same period comprised 125,106 tonnes, 12,858 units, and 28,633 heads, respectively.

The year 2025 marked a special year in the history of Mwani Qatar, which has given Qatar a strong position as a regional trade and logistics hub, with the use of modern infrastructure and the greatest operational efficiency.

Hamad Port, the primary entry point to global trade in Qatar, was ranked first in the Gulf and 11th worldwide in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2024 by the World Bank and S&P Global.

As transhipment has grown rapidly, almost half of all volumes transited (January to November 2025), the port reinforced Qatar’s position as an important regional trade and logistics center with the Ministry of Transport’s strategic plan. In the latest publication, Mwani Qatar emphasized the major achievements of the previous year.

It reported that “We enhanced operational capabilities, upgraded digital infrastructure, and expanded shipping network, all while improving the customer experience and strengthening Qatar’s role as a key regional hub for trade and logistics.”

The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) celebrated the launch of the new direct CHINOOK-CLANGA route last July with the arrival of MSC CHARLESTON in Hamad Port.

This service is one of the major strategic developments, where direct weekly sailings to East Asian and the West Coast of North America key ports are provided. It enhances the agility and efficiency of the supply chains and promotes the growing role of Qatar in the regional and international logistics.

The CHINOOK-CLANGA service connects Hamad Port to the major international ports, such as Colombo, Vung Tau, Haiphong, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Seattle, Prince Rupert, and Vancouver, and makes the shipping opportunities of its customers more diverse and efficient, and connects Qatar with some of the most important trading centres in the world directly.

In the previous year, Hamad Port reached a milestone in the Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest mangrove relocation project.

Mwani Qatar also earned a prestigious ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification on Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) in 2025, a testament to its unbending dedication to deploying the best information security and data protection practices.

The certification is a globally accepted standard that provides a strong and extensive framework for dealing with cyber risks, enhancing data security, and maintaining smooth business continuity in the changing realities of the digital world.

Captain Abdulla Mohamed Al Khanji, Chief Executive Officer of Mwani Qatar, also received the coveted title of Personality of the Year in the annual The Maritime Standard (TMS) Awards 2025 event.

The award is considered one of the most reputable individual awards in the maritime transport and ports industry in the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent.

It honours exceptional figures that contributed outstanding efforts towards the development of the maritime industry, as well as its general performance and efficiency.
