Qatar Central Bank (QCB) data indicated that Qatar has recorded 55.08 million transactions with a value of QR16.68 billion using the payment system in the country in September 2025.
Qatar Payment System (QPS) is formulated based on the idea of real-time gross settlement (RTGS) and electronic straight-through processing (e-STP).
The point-of-sales contributed 51 percent of the payment system transactions, accompanied by e-commerce at 25 percent, Fawran or instant payment system at 22 percent, and Qatar Mobile Payment or QMP at 2 percent in the review period.
The number of card transactions using point-of-sale, which help merchants to receive payments and record transactions, was 42.43 million, and the total of these transactions worth QR8.46 billion in September 2025.
Its e-commerce transaction recorded up to 10.09 million transactions amounting to QR4.23 billion during the review period.
Fawran, a real-time money transfer service available in Qatar, which enables users to both give and receive money instantly and safely in the country, recorded up to 2.21 million transactions worth QR3.69 billion in September 2025.
The total registered Fawran accounts were 3.39 million in September this year.
QMP, which enables instant transfer of funds among registered customers by any registered payment service providers, had a transaction of up to 359,462 worth QR294.63 million in September 2025. The number of registered wallets in the review period has been 1.21mn.
The QMP, a centralized payment system which was introduced in 2020, allowed individuals and corporates to conduct instant fund transfers among e-wallets amongst payment service providers in Qatar.
