Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a complete performance to beat Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs, extending Chennai’s winless start to the IPL 2026 season.

Batting first at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru put up a strong total, building the innings around sustained scoring rather than a single explosive phase. The runs came consistently from the top and middle order, allowing RCB to push beyond the 200-run mark and set the game up on their terms.

Chennai, in response, never quite managed to match that tempo.

The chase started without the urgency typically required at this venue, and the gap began to show as the innings progressed. While there were brief partnerships, the momentum never shifted decisively in their favor.

RCB’s bowlers kept things tight through the middle overs and, crucially, picked up wickets at regular intervals. That combination ensured Chennai were always behind the game, with the required rate climbing steadily.

By the time the match entered the final phase, the equation had drifted out of reach. Chennai finished well short of the target, sealing a 43-run win for Bengaluru.

For RCB, it was a result built on balance. The batting set up the platform, and the bowling unit followed through with control.

For Chennai Super Kings, the concerns are becoming more pronounced. Three consecutive defeats leave them searching for answers early in the tournament, particularly in the batting department, where they have struggled to keep pace in chases.

At this stage of the season, it is still about finding rhythm. Bengaluru appears to have it. Chennai, for now, does not.
