The 120th open auction of distinctive vehicle number plates, organised by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on the evening of Saturday, 27th December, generated total proceeds of AED109,026,000 — the highest revenue ever recorded in the history of RTA’s distinctive number plate auctions.
Plate number BB12 fetched the highest price at AED9.66 million, followed by AA25 at AED8.04 million, BB30 at AED6.74 million, and CC100 at AED4.21 million.
These results highlight the effectiveness of the RTA’s auction strategy, which combines open and electronic sales while ensuring neutrality, transparency, and equal opportunities for all participants. Distinctive number plates carry symbolic value and are highly sought after by collectors and vehicle owners.
At the 120th open auction, RTA offered 90 distinctive vehicle number plates, including two-, three-, four-, and five-digit numbers, from the series AA, BB, CC, K, N, O, R, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.
Registration for the auction opened on Monday, 22nd December. Participants could register via the RTA website, Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha, or directly at the auction venue. Priority was given to those who registered in advance. The sale of number plates was subject to a 5% value-added tax.
