The UAE launch of ruya Cashback Credit Card marks a new entry in the Islamic digital banking space, as ruya introduces a cashback-focused credit card designed to simplify everyday rewards while remaining fully Shariah-compliant.

Announced in Ajman, the ruya Mastercard Cashback Credit Card is positioned as a straightforward rewards product, offering 2 percent cashback on all eligible purchases, including groceries, fuel, dining, and online spending.

A key differentiator lies in its structure. Unlike many conventional cards, the product does not require a minimum spend threshold, ensuring that every transaction contributes to cashback accumulation.

“At ruya, our mission is to empower individuals and families by providing financial solutions that are not only ethical but also highly practical for everyday life,” said Christoph Koster, CEO of ruya. “We wanted to create a product that removes the complexity from rewards, offering a transparent, Shariah-compliant way for our customers to realize genuine value from their daily spending.”

The card is designed with a digital-first approach, allowing users to track and redeem cashback directly through the ruya mobile app. Customers can apply their rewards instantly against unbilled transactions, enhancing flexibility and control over spending.

The launch reflects a broader trend within the UAE’s banking sector, where institutions are increasingly focusing on simplified, user-centric products that combine financial benefits with seamless digital experiences.

ruya, which launched in 2024 and operates under a specialised banking license from the UAE Central Bank, is positioning itself as a community-focused Islamic bank. Its offerings are built around principles of transparency, financial inclusion, and accessibility.

The introduction of a cashback credit card also signals growing competition within the Islamic finance segment, particularly in retail banking products, where demand for ethical yet practical financial solutions is rising.

By combining Shariah compliance with a simplified rewards structure, ruya is targeting consumers who seek both value and alignment with Islamic banking principles in their everyday financial decisions.
