As the iconic Indian film Baahubali: The Beginning completed a decade since its historic release, director S.S. Rajamouli on Thursday revealed that a special two-part combined version titled ‘Baahubali – The Epic’ will hit theatres globally on October 31, 2025.
The announcement was made via Rajamouli’s Instagram story, where he wrote:
“Baahubali. The beginning of many journeys. Countless memories. Endless inspiration. It’s been 10 years. Marking this special milestone with #BaahubaliTheEpic, a two-part combined film. In theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025.”
The re-release aims to celebrate the blockbuster’s decade-long legacy and reconnect fans with the larger-than-life cinematic universe that redefined Indian filmmaking.
A Landmark Film in Indian Cinema
Originally released on July 10, 2015, Baahubali: The Beginning — starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia — shattered box office records and paved the way for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which arrived in 2017.
Together, the two films created an epic franchise that grossed over ₹1,800 crore worldwide and became the first Indian film series to cross ₹1,000 crore in box office collections. Baahubali 2 continues to hold the record as India’s highest-grossing film as of 2025.
Producers Reflect on the Journey
The film’s producer, Shobu Yarlagadda, took to X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week to reflect on the emotional lead-up to the original release:
“In a few days, it will be 10 years of @BaahubaliMovie ‘The Beginning’ theatrical release! Around this time… were the most nerve-racking and tense moments me and all of us involved with the film lived through,” he posted.
Yarlagadda had also hinted at a grand re-release, stating:
“I am thrilled to inform you all that we are planning an Indian and international re-release of @BaahubaliMovie in October this year… Expect nostalgia, new reveals, and a few epic surprises along the way.”
Critical Acclaim and Global Recognition
Baahubali was not just a commercial triumph but also a critical darling. The film won three National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Stunt Choreography, and Best Special Effects.
Internationally, it was lauded with the Saturn Award for Best International Film at the 44th Saturn Awards, cementing its place as a global cinematic phenomenon.
As the franchise turns 10, ‘Baahubali – The Epic’ aims to reignite the magic for fans and newcomers alike — this time, through a seamless cinematic experience that brings both parts together in a unified narrative.
