Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA Al Haram Al Makki Company, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, had announced the initiation of King Salman Gate, a multi-use development in the holy city of Makkah.
Saudi Press Agency reported that the project will span a gross floor space of up to 12 million square meters gross adjacent to the Grand Mosque, and will become a world standard of city planning in the modern world.
Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, RUA AlHaram AlMakki, will develop the integrated mixed-use project.
It will encompass residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural experiences with an approximate capacity of 900,000 indoor and outdoor praying spaces.
There was no construction schedule or cost of the project described yet.
SPA stated that the urban development and infrastructure of King Salman Gate will improve the accessibility of the Grand Mosque according to the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program.
The project will be able to preserve the Makkah heritage and cultural legacy by rebuilding and constructing almost 19,000 square meters of the heritage sites.
It will also help the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, connecting to the economic transformation of the country by creating over 300,000 jobs in 2036.
