The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia has collaborated with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology to implement a new measure that would help speed up the integration of modern manufacturing technologies in the industrial sector of the Kingdom.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the program, titled “Technologies for Exceptional Transformation,” is aimed at assisting industrial companies to incorporate smart manufacturing solutions and applied research into their activity and increase productivity and competitiveness.
The program is an extension of the current ministry’s initiatives to facilitate industrial transformation in the Kingdom. The program is a part of the Local Industry Stimulation Initiative that allows industrial establishments of all sizes in the Kingdom to access smart manufacturing solutions, strategic research, and technologies developed at KAUST in collaboration with global service providers.
It is aimed at leading to better productivity, industrial innovation, better sustainability and quality, and new production lines in areas of priority identified through the National Industrial Strategy.
The SPA report stated, “The criteria for companies to benefit from the initiative’s services include being headquartered in the Kingdom, having its activities aligned with the sectors approved in the National Industrial Strategy, identifying technical needs and gaps to provide appropriate support, and submitting a financing model and sharing financial performance data and R&D expenditure to evaluate its performance before and after adopting the technological solutions.”
The technologies for Exceptional Transformation are one of the integrated activities the ministry conducts with the research centers, as well as the academic institutions, in line with the goals of the center to empower advanced manufacturing in the Kingdom.
Thus, the program is supposed to improve the efficiency and competitiveness in the industrial sector and assist in the goals of Vision 2030.
