Sharjah Airport announced that passengers should arrive three hours before scheduled flights to ensure smooth travel during the peak New Year season.

Sharjah residents will have a four-day weekend as the New Year holiday joins the usual weekend.

Considering the expected growth of passenger flows and the daily increase in the number of flights, Sharjah Airport has promoted passengers flying with Air Arabia to use the city check-in service, as it will enable them to carry out the check-in processes in advance and move straight to the passport control at the airport on arrival.

The airport said that it was fully prepared to meet the projected high influx of passengers, especially in the winter holiday season, after initiating a number of operational strategies that aimed at improving smooth passenger traffic and subsequent provision of quality services.

Sharjah and other emirate airports are experiencing a high flow of passenger traffic, which is attributed to the winter holiday and the impending longer weekend during the New Year holiday.

Dubai International Airport also gave an advisory because more than 10 million passengers are projected to pass through Dubai International Airport (DXB) by the year’s end.

Therefore, the UAE employees have a chance to have the holiday on January 1, 2026. Federal government employees will have a remote-work day on Friday, January 2, 2026, after the celebrations of the New Year.

However, Sharjah Airport has a variety of services that facilitate the movement of passengers and minimize the time of processing. These come in the form of self-check-in kiosks, baggage drop-off in the departure area, smart gates, fast-track options, and the Hala service.

The airport has also captured the new Al Diyafah Lounge, which is located in the main entrance of the departing area, where the passengers receive improved comfort and high standards of hospitality.

The level of staffing has been augmented throughout the areas of operation to guarantee ease of movement of passengers and expedited services of outgoing and incoming travellers during peak seasons.
