Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) has granted approval for Iran’s Caspian Airlines to commence scheduled passenger flights linking Sharjah with five major Iranian cities. Launched on 8 December 2025, these new routes are expected to significantly enhance travel, tourism, and trade between the two nations.
Caspian Airlines will operate seven weekly flights from Tehran, three from Lamerd, two from Qeshm, and one each from Shiraz and Bandar Abbas, using Boeing 737-500 aircraft with a capacity of 120 seats.
Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, welcomed Caspian Airlines as the newest international carrier in Sharjah Airport’s growing network. He highlighted that the addition reflects the airport’s continuing operational growth and robust infrastructure, which enables it to meet rising demand in both passenger and cargo travel. Al Midfa noted that the partnership aligns with Sharjah’s long-term aviation strategy and strengthens air connectivity, tourism, trade, and investment.
Adel Norali, CEO of Caspian Airlines, described the new routes as a major milestone for the airline, building on more than 30 years of operational experience and an international network covering over 11 destinations. He emphasized that the services will deepen economic, tourism, and cultural ties between the UAE and Iran, while affirming the airline’s commitment to safe, reliable, and internationally compliant air travel.
The introduction of Caspian Airlines’ scheduled flights further consolidates Sharjah Airport’s position as a regional aviation hub. Passenger numbers in Q3 2025 reached 5.12 million, up 16.7% from the same period in 2024, while aircraft movements rose 10.7% to 30,737 flights. These figures highlight the airport’s expanding global significance and its commitment to delivering seamless, passenger-focused services.
