Silal, the agri-food and technology company located in Abu Dhabi, is set to expand into Ras Al Khaimah in partnership with the National Agricultural Center to empower local farmers and improve national food security.
The initial stage of the project begins on March 9, in the Al Hamraniyah region, where the collaboration will engage local farms to increase agricultural output, advance productivity, and simplify the marketing of Emirati products.
The programme will furnish farmers with technical support, improved agricultural inputs, and guidance on post-harvest management and marketing.
It will also set up a special crop collection center to facilitate the process of receiving, distributing, and selling agricultural products.
Dhafer Al Qasimi, group CEO of Silal, stated that the partnership would empower local farmers and increase the availability of Emirati agricultural products in local markets to contribute to the overall food security vision of the UAE.
Sultan Salem Al Shamsi, director of the National Agricultural Center, added that the initiative is built on the interests of the centre in promoting the agricultural sector in the UAE and promoting the competitiveness and sustainability of the local farming industry.
The collaboration belongs to broader national initiatives to merge production, marketing, and distribution among agricultural supply chains within the UAE, benefitting local farmers and enhancing the resiliency of the industry.
Silal belongs to ADQ, which is one of the largest holding companies in the region with investments in the diversified economy of Abu Dhabi.
