H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Arada, has officially inaugurated the Quran Mosque in Aljada, one of the largest mosques in the emirate.

Designed without interior columns to provide an open and uninterrupted space for prayer, the mosque spans 6,388 square metres and can accommodate up to 3,000 worshippers. This includes 1,600 in the main hall, 1,000 in the courtyard, and 400 in the women’s section.

The mosque features a striking circular dome and a 39-metre-high minaret. Its architectural design blends simplicity with intricate Arabic calligraphy, offering both functionality and beauty. Facilities include residences for the imam and muezzin, private rooms for contemplation, ablution areas, and restrooms.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed performed the Dhuhr prayer at the mosque before receiving a briefing on its design and community role. Religious scholar Salem Al Doubi delivered remarks on the significance of mosques in Islam, describing them as sanctuaries that uplift the spirit, strengthen communal ties, and bring blessings to society.

The Quran Mosque is the first in Aljada, with Arada planning two additional mosques in the district. The project aligns with Sharjah’s broader vision of expanding places of worship across the emirate to serve local communities and promote Islamic and social values.

The inauguration was attended by Abdullah Khalifa Al Subousi, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council; Khalifa Al Shaibani, General Manager of Tilal Properties; and other dignitaries.
