Turkish Airlines has signed a major agreement with Boeing to add 75 wide-body 787 Dreamliner jets to its fleet between 2029 and 2034, underscoring the carrier’s ambitious global growth plans and strengthening ties between Türkiye and the United States.

The deal covers 50 firm orders and 25 options for the 787-9 and 787-10 models. The airline is also finalising negotiations with engine makers Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for the new aircraft, while talks continue with CFM International on an additional purchase of 100 firm and 50 option orders for Boeing 737-8/10 MAX jets.

The agreement supports Turkish Airlines’ “Vision 2033,” which targets a fleet of more than 800 aircraft by the airline’s centennial year and aims for 90% of its fleet to be next-generation aircraft by 2033, rising to 100% by 2035. The strategy targets a 6% average annual growth rate, accompanied by enhanced long-haul connectivity to key markets across the U.S., Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat stated that the acquisition reflects the airline’s commitment to innovation and operational efficiency, noting that the Dreamliners’ 25% fuel savings will reduce costs and lower environmental impact while expanding passenger and cargo capacity on high-demand routes.

Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the company is “honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to power its future growth,” highlighting an 80-year partnership with Türkiye’s aviation sector.

Turkish Airlines already operates more than 200 Boeing aircraft, including 787-9s, 777s, and 737 MAX jets. The addition of the larger 787-10 will boost long-haul capacity, while new 737 MAX planes will enhance efficiency on short- and medium-haul routes, reinforcing Istanbul’s position as a key global hub for both passengers and cargo.

The order is one of the largest in the airline’s history and positions Turkish Airlines to strengthen its market leadership, attract more international visitors and support the growth of Türkiye’s tourism and aviation ecosystem.
