UAE Announces Cabinet Reshuffle, Ahmed Al Sayegh Appointed Minister Of Health

Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a cabinet reshuffle in the UAE Federal Government.

As part of the reshuffle, Ahmed Al Sayegh has been appointed Minister of Health and Prevention, succeeding Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, who will continue to serve as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid extended his appreciation to Al Owais for his service, noting the “significant developments achieved to advance the federal healthcare system” during his tenure.

Ahmed Al Sayegh’s Profile

Ahmed Al Sayegh previously served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2018, where he led the UAE’s economic and commercial affairs portfolio and managed strategic bilateral relations with Asian and CIS countries. His work supported the UAE’s broader economic diversification strategy and expansion of international investment partnerships.

Beyond his ministerial role, Al Sayegh holds several high-level positions in the UAE’s public and private sectors, including:

  • Board Member and Executive Committee Member, ADNOC
  • Board Member, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD)
  • Vice Chairman, Emirates Nature–WWF
  • Co-Chair, UAE-UK Business Council

His career has also included leadership roles as Chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Aldar Properties, and Masdar, as well as board positions at Etihad Airways Group and Mubadala Investment Company.

Al Sayegh earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States.

Strategic Significance

The appointment comes at a pivotal time as the UAE continues to expand its healthcare sector, enhance resilience, and strengthen its positioning as a global hub for medical innovation and life sciences.

The reshuffle reflects the government’s broader focus on renewal, continuity, and future-readiness, while maintaining institutional stability across key ministries.
