The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) had stated that another product, S26 AR, was included in the range of a voluntary and precautionary recall of Nestlé infant formula, which was to be used only under medical guidance.

The action broadens recall operations and emphasizes regulatory supervision aimed at public health and consumer protection. WAM reported that, as a precautionary measure in safeguarding the health and safety of the people and the consumers, the establishment confirmed that the contaminated batches are 5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661.

Meanwhile, consumers and distributors have been advised to check batch numbers to make sure that potentially affected products are out of circulation as early as possible.

The recall came as a result of the discovery of traces of the bacterium Bacillus cereus in a production input. The bacterium can also produce cereulide toxin, capable of causing foodborne disease and gastrointestinal side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. The authorities labeled the move as a precautionary measure and in line with national safety measures.

Coordinating with Nestlé, the establishment declared that it has recalled all contaminated batches still in distributor warehouses and that it is still working to remove the rest of the products from the market.

It encompasses all retail outlets, including e-commerce platforms, and is being executed alongside appropriate authorities to ascertain comprehensive compliance. Nestlé has also adopted online applications that allow customers to check the batches of products and request a refund or replacement.
