The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism participated in the Women’s Economic Dialogue in Guangzhou, held as part of the UAE’s celebrations for Emirati Women’s Day 2025 under the theme “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years.”
Organised by the Consulate General of the UAE in Guangzhou, the event highlighted the achievements of Emirati women while fostering stronger economic ties with Chinese counterparts. The UAE delegation was led by Badreya Al Maidoor, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, alongside Mariam Alshamsi, UAE Consul General in Guangzhou, entrepreneur Maryam Al Mansoori, General Manager of Rebound, and representatives from Sky River and Esaal.
Strengthening Partnerships
Speaking at the event, Al Maidoor reaffirmed that women’s empowerment remains a strategic priority for the UAE. She noted that supportive legislation and national initiatives have enabled Emirati women to become key contributors to the country’s competitiveness on both regional and global stages.
“Through this dialogue, we aim to expand cooperation with women entrepreneurs in China by fostering economic partnerships built on diversity and innovation, while sharing success stories that inspire the next generation of women leaders,” Al Maidoor said.
Dialogue on Emerging Sectors
Panel discussions during the event explored women’s roles in areas such as sustainable finance, fintech, investment, green building, and the localisation of foreign businesses in the UAE. Leaders from both nations exchanged insights on overcoming challenges, driving innovation, and strengthening women’s role in shaping future economies.
Long-Term Vision
The participation reflects the UAE’s broader commitment to advancing gender equality and reinforcing women’s contributions to sustainable development. The initiative also aligns with the “We the UAE 2031” vision and national strategies that place women at the heart of the country’s progress.
The dialogue not only celebrated Emirati women’s achievements but also underscored the UAE’s role in building cross-border partnerships that empower women leaders globally.
