The UAE’s advanced cybersecurity infrastructure is designed to predict and counter most electronic threats before they materialize. According to Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, the nation faces an average of more than 50,000 cyberattacks daily targeting key sectors.
With growing technology and proactive measures, all of these attacks are successfully deterred and mitigated before they can cause harm.
This cybersecurity system highlights the UAE’s commitment to safeguarding its critical infrastructure and ensuring national security in the digital age.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti further mentioned that the country’s national security operations centre is connected to vital sectors, including electricity, water, healthcare, energy, banking, and other essential industries, all of which rely on digital infrastructure, aiming to safeguard the nation’s digital landscape from potential cyber threats.
Speaking about the utilization of AI, he elaborated that the country’s cybersecurity capabilities allow it to detect attacks before they occur, identify their nature, and trace the attackers— all handled according to global best practices in cybersecurity. These attacks are frequently supported by specific states or terrorist groups.
Al Kuwaiti further explained that contemporary warfare has moved into the digital realm, with cyberattacks utilizing techniques such as viruses, deepfakes, and misinformation strategies designed to sway public opinion and destabilize societies worldwide.
He also highlighted that the Cybersecurity Council is organizing a series of simulated exercises at IDEX and NAVDEX 2025, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and other stakeholders, to address the growing threats of misinformation and deepfakes.- WAM
