The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the agreement reached in Muscat, Oman, on the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, describing it as a significant humanitarian step that helps ease human suffering and supports efforts to strengthen stability in Yemen and the wider region.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) praised the Sultanate of Oman for hosting and facilitating the negotiations, acknowledged the cooperation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and highlighted the vital role of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Ministry emphasized that this humanitarian agreement marks a step toward building trust and creating conditions favorable for peace.
The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting political solution that ends the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and meets their legitimate aspirations for security, stability, and development.
