Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Board of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the upcoming period will witness wider participation in regional, Gulf, and international championships. These will include Formula racing, jet-ski competitions, and modern sailing events, alongside efforts to expand the UAE’s global presence in the sport.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) today regarding the preparations for the new season, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the continued and steadfast support from the nation’s leadership remains the cornerstone for the development and progress of marine sports across the UAE.
He pointed out that the significant accomplishments on both local and international stages stem from a strategic vision that prioritizes investment in people—empowering them to achieve excellence and proudly represent the UAE on global platforms.
Thanks to the guidance and backing of the leadership, the UAE has solidified its status as a leading regional and international hub for marine sports, said Sheikh Mohammed. He added that the country has become a breeding ground for champions and talent, with clubs and federations now implementing long-term development strategies that have elevated the UAE’s presence in global competitions and enhanced its reputation as a center of innovation and sporting achievement.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan praised the dedicated work of marine sports clubs and their capability to compete in top-tier Formula championships. He highlighted the importance of structured planning and modern training programmes that focus on nurturing national talent. The consistent success of teams like Team Abu Dhabi, he said, proves that Emirati athletes can stand alongside the world’s elite competitors and achieve international victories.
He underscored that youth development lies at the heart of the Federation’s strategic vision, with a focus on training the next generation of Emirati professionals. These young talents are being equipped with the technical skills and leadership abilities needed to carry the sport forward, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the UAE’s accomplishments in marine sports.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan also described heritage marine competitions as the cultural soul of the sport in the UAE. These traditional championships, he said, serve as a vital link between generations, reinforcing Emirati identity and preserving the legacy of ancestors. On the “Al Nokhitha Abu Dhabi” programme, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted it as a successful model for youth development. The initiative integrates education with hands-on training through innovative techniques, producing qualified captains who exemplify leadership and accountability.
