The UAE has announced its first national cybersecurity guidelines for drones, marking a major step toward securing the country’s airspace and digital infrastructure. The announcement was made on Saturday by the UAE Cybersecurity Council in collaboration with Digital Reach and Shieldworkz, two firms specializing in cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions.
With drones being increasingly adopted across sectors like agriculture, logistics, and environmental monitoring, authorities stressed the need for a regulatory framework to proactively manage emerging cyber threats. These new operational standards aim to protect data integrity and ensure the safe use of unmanned aerial systems across the country, reports WAM.
Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, said the guidelines demonstrate the nation’s leadership and forward-thinking approach to digital security.
Malek Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, affirmed the organization’s commitment to enhancing the country’s cyber resilience, while Mohamed Khaled, Vice President of Growth and Corporate Transformation at Reach Group, emphasized that the initiative supports safe technological innovation and addresses rising risks associated with drones and IoT systems.
