The United Arab Emirates has warned that any Israeli annexation of the West Bank or occupied Palestinian territories would constitute a “red line”, undermining regional security and stability.

Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, UAE Minister of State, said: “Israel’s annexation of the West Bank or any part of the occupied Palestinian territories represents a red line, and taking such a step would undermine regional security.”

Speaking at a joint press conference with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, following the conclusion of the 164th session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers — chaired by the UAE — Al Marar reaffirmed the UAE’s support for the two-state solution as the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

He added that the UAE remains committed to protecting Palestinian rights, halting the war in Gaza, and delivering humanitarian aid to the enclave in coordination with Arab partners.

Al Marar noted that Arab ministers reached full consensus on all agenda items, including calls to stop the “genocide” being carried out by Israeli forces, and to reject attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians or annex occupied territories.

Aboul Gheit stressed that Arab states had agreed on two key priorities: ending the war and preserving the project of an independent Palestinian state as the cornerstone of peace efforts. He said Egypt and Saudi Arabia had submitted a joint draft resolution on “Arab Cooperation in the Middle East,” which was unanimously adopted.

The resolution reaffirmed Arab unity in rejecting infringements on sovereignty, upholding the two-state solution, and calling for an international conference to advance Palestinian statehood and secure wider global recognition of Palestine.
