Honor has officially launched its highly anticipated foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, for global markets. The device has made waves in the industry by claiming the title of the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable, a significant achievement that addresses one of the primary hurdles in foldable phone design.
The Magic V5, which was first unveiled in China in July, has now begun its international rollout. It features a remarkably slender profile, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded. This ultra-slim design, combined with a weight of only 217g, makes it feel more like a traditional smartphone than a bulky tablet.
More than just a design marvel, the Magic V5 is packed with flagship-level specifications. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, paired with a massive 5,820mAh battery that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The phone boasts a dual-screen setup, featuring a 7.95-inch inner foldable LTPO AMOLED display and a 6.43-inch outer LTPO OLED display, both with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 5000 nits.
The camera system is equally impressive, utilizing Honor’s “AI Falcon” technology. The triple-camera array on the rear includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 64MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The phone also features dual 20MP selfie cameras.
Durability is a key focus, with the Magic V5 featuring a robust hinge that has been tested for over 500,000 folds and a special coating on the inner screen to resist impacts. It also features an IP58 and IP59 rating for dust and water resistance, a welcome addition for a foldable device.
The launch of the Honor Magic V5 in markets like the UAE positions it as a strong contender against other major foldable players. With its groundbreaking thin design, powerful performance, and advanced features, the Magic V5 is poised to redefine the perception of what a foldable phone can be.
