Cristiano Ronaldo has ended months of speculation about his future by signing a new two-year deal with Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, keeping him at the Riyadh-based team until the summer of 2027.
The 40-year-old Portuguese forward, who joined Al Nassr at the end of 2022, confirmed the extension with a social media post showing him holding a club jersey featuring “2027” on the back.
He captioned the post: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.” Al Nassr also shared a video on their social channels with the message “The story continues,” concluding with Ronaldo saying, “Al Nassr forever.”

The announcement ends widespread rumors that Ronaldo might leave the club after his contract was set to expire on June 30. Speculation intensified after the star posted a cryptic message last month stating “the chapter is over.” FIFA President Gianni Infantino further fueled rumors by hinting that Ronaldo could join a team participating in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Although an extra transfer window was open for clubs involved in the tournament, Ronaldo later clarified he would not be taking part, despite receiving “plenty of invitations.”
Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr in late 2022 surprised many, coming shortly after his contract with Manchester United was terminated. Since his arrival, he has helped raise the profile of the Saudi Pro League but has yet to secure a major trophy with the club. Al Nassr finished second in Ronaldo’s debut 2022/23 season and were runners-up again in 2023/24, trailing rivals Al Hilal by 14 points. In the most recent season, 2024/25, the team placed third and was knocked out of the AFC Champions League Elite in the semi-finals.
Ronaldo will enter the new season under a new head coach after Al Nassr parted ways with Stefano Pioli this week.
