Group-IB, a global cybersecurity leader, has launched Fraud Matrix 2.0, a next-generation fraud analytics framework designed to empower organisations with faster detection, smarter response, and more effective prevention of digital fraud.

Inspired by the MITRE ATT&CK® framework, Fraud Matrix is a comprehensive taxonomy developed by Group-IB to decode the behaviour, tactics, and tools used by fraudsters. The new version marks a substantial upgrade, bridging cybersecurity and fraud intelligence through real-time, data-driven insights.

“Fraud is evolving rapidly, and traditional defences are no longer enough,” said Dmitry Pisarev, Product Manager of the Group-IB Fraud Matrix. “With this new version, we’re giving fraud teams a smarter, structured way to counter modern threats. It empowers them to act faster and stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated schemes.”

Key Enhancements in Fraud Matrix 2.0

  • Threat Actor Profiles: Offers deep behavioural insights and motivations behind fraud campaigns.
  • Fraud Software Intelligence: Breaks down tools and malware used in sector-specific schemes.
  • Campaign Intelligence: Provides real-time tracking of fraud trends and scam campaigns.
  • Enhanced Detections and Mitigations: Improves coverage and accuracy for prevention and response.
  • Self-Assessment Wizard: Enables organisations to quickly evaluate and improve control systems.
  • Cross-Industry Taxonomy: Establishes a shared framework for fraud classification across sectors.

Since its debut in 2024, the Fraud Matrix has been adopted by more than 80 organisations across 30 countries, including sectors such as banking, telecom, retail, and public services.

Measurable Impact

According to Group-IB, organisations using the Fraud Matrix reported:

  • Detection coverage improvements from 55% to 91%
  • Response time reductions of up to 85.6%

These metrics reflect the framework’s growing relevance in a fraud landscape marked by fast-changing tactics and globally coordinated scams.

The 2.0 version also supports industry-specific threat intelligence, allowing companies to identify blind spots, localize defenses, and prioritize risks based on their sectoral exposure.

Looking ahead, Group-IB plans to expand Fraud Matrix through integration with global threat intelligence communities, TTP (Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures) analysis, and continued collaboration with sector regulators.
