The fifth round of the second edition of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship for no-gi competitions is set to begin tomorrow at Al Nasr Club in Dubai. The event will run until Sunday, August 17, drawing top athletes from clubs and academies across all age categories.
Day one will feature competitions in the under-12, under-14, and under-16 divisions, while day two will showcase the under-18, adult, and master categories. The championship has quickly become a key platform for nurturing talent, allowing athletes to hone their skills and prepare for both domestic and international tournaments.
Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Technical Director of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized the significance of the event: “This championship is more than just a competition; it is an ideal platform to refine talent, test strategies, and develop skills in a high-level environment, enriching the technical aspect and raising the level of competition.”
No-gi competitions, he explained, demand greater speed, agility, and control compared to traditional gi events, offering athletes unique experiences while fostering sportsmanship and fair play.
The championship’s prize pool has been increased to AED3 million under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. This initiative aims to empower athletes, encourage peak performance, and further strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for jiu-jitsu excellence.
