Taiwan’s Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a joint venture between Foxconn and Yulon Motor, introduced an electric vehicle model known as the Bria on Thursday.
Foxtron reported that the model will be offered in three price points at the start of sales, and these prices are about $28,600 to $36,540, citing that Bria is the first EV model to be made in Taiwan for exporting globally.
Foxtron announced last week that it intended to purchase the Luxgen passenger-car brand of Yulon Motor at T$787.6 million ($24.95 million), and would introduce its Model B EV in Taiwan as the Bria brand.
In a statement, Foxtron stated that as part of the deal, Foxtron will acquire 100 percent of Luxgen, including its five sales subsidiaries, sales outlets, and employees.
After the transaction, Foxtron will assume operational control with an aim of establishing a more encompassing EV value chain in Taiwan, including product development, sales, and after-sales services.
Foxconn, the biggest contract iPhone manufacturer in the world, owns 45.6 percent of Foxtron, and Taiwanese automaker Yulon owns a 43.8 percent stake.
The business model adopted by Foxtron is a contract design and manufacturing services, according to which the manufacturer produces EVs under car brands.
