China’s consumer price index (CPI), a key measure of inflation, increased 0.8 percent year-on-year in December, official data showed on Friday.

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 1.2 percent compared with the same month last year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

For the full year of 2025, the CPI remained unchanged compared to 2024.

On a monthly basis, the CPI climbed 0.2 percent in December, following a 0.1-percent decline in November.

Friday’s data also showed that the producer price index (PPI), which tracks factory-gate costs for goods, fell 1.9 percent year-on-year in December, narrowing from a 2.2 percent drop in November. For the entire year of 2025, the PPI decreased by 2.6 percent.
