H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, crowned the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority team as winners of the inaugural Sharjah Media Ramadan Football Championship on Wednesday evening, held at the Sharjah Police Club stadium.
Sheikh Sultan presented the trophy to the players, congratulating them on their victory and wishing them continued success in future sporting events.
He highlighted that the championship, organised by the Sharjah Media Council with participation from media entities in the emirate, aims to foster institutional belonging, strengthen bonds among employees, encourage physical activity, and promote sportsmanship, fair play, and honourable competition in the workplace.
The Chairman praised the high technical level displayed by the participating teams, noting that the championship successfully enhanced communication and camaraderie among media professionals while creating a spirit of friendly competition.
He also honoured all participating teams for their efforts, as well as referees, sponsors, and supporters—including Basma Group, Sharjah National Oil Corporation, Sharjah Police, and the University of Sharjah. Individual awards were presented for Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer.
The tournament featured four teams: Sharjah Media Council, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and Sharjah Media City (Shams), competing in a single round-robin format with each team playing three matches.
Attending the championship alongside the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council were Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Khamis Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Sharjah National Oil Corporation; Professor Dr Issam Al Din Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; in addition to a number of officials and supporters of the participating teams.
