The Ministry of Defence issues this statement in reference to today’s, Tuesday, 30th December 2025, announcement by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding developments in the Republic of Yemen and the facts presented about the UAE Armed Forces’ presence in Yemen as part of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy.
The Ministry of Defence reiterates that the UAE has participated in the Arab Coalition since 2015 to support legitimacy in Yemen, assist international efforts against terrorist organizations, and promote security and stability for the brotherly Yemeni people, making significant sacrifices toward these goals.
It notes that the UAE Armed Forces concluded their military operations in Yemen in 2019 after fulfilling all assigned missions under official agreements. Any remaining personnel were limited to specialized counterterrorism roles in coordination with international partners.
Considering recent developments and their potential impact on the safety and effectiveness of counterterrorism efforts, the Ministry of Defence announces the voluntary withdrawal of the remaining UAE counterterrorism personnel from Yemen, ensuring personnel safety and coordination with relevant partners.
The Ministry emphasizes that this step follows a comprehensive assessment of current requirements and aligns with the UAE’s ongoing commitments to regional security and stability.
