The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) has signed cooperation agreements with Al-Tarahum Charity Foundation, Beit Al Khair Society and Dar Al Ber Society to organise the distribution and operation of smart donation boxes in approved mosques across the emirate. The agreements are part of a unified institutional framework aligned with the leadership’s vision to improve the efficiency and sustainability of humanitarian initiatives.
The initiative is designed to establish a structured digital donation system managed through a comprehensive regulatory and supervisory framework that includes financial, administrative and technical oversight. This system ensures transparent procedures, accurate monitoring and accountability in donation channels, helping guarantee that contributions reach their designated beneficiaries and authorised charitable projects.
The agreements also unify operational standards for smart donation boxes in mosques, reinforcing public confidence in official donation channels while strengthening Dubai’s reputation as a global model for organised charitable work driven by governance and innovation.
Mohammed Musabbah Dahi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at the department, said the agreements mark a significant step in advancing methods of collecting donations. He explained that organising smart donation boxes within a unified framework demonstrates the department’s commitment to the highest standards of transparency and compliance, while promoting stronger cooperation and integration among organisations involved in charitable work.
He added that the initiative also supports Dubai’s digital transformation goals and helps ensure charitable funds are managed efficiently and responsibly, maximising their humanitarian impact and long-term sustainability. He noted that the initiative reflects a growing awareness of the need to move from individual charitable efforts toward a coordinated and sustainable system based on global best practices in financial governance.
Meanwhile, Omar Ali Al Khazimi, Acting Director of the Zakat and Charity Affairs Department, said the partnership represents an advanced example of cooperation between government institutions and charitable organisations. He added that standardising regulatory and operational procedures for smart donation boxes will enhance institutional performance, strengthen donor confidence and ensure smooth operations in line with the emirate’s established regulations.
