Netflix India announced the release on its social media platforms with the caption: “Mark your calendars. The Diplomat arrives on 9 May, on Netflix.” The Diplomat dives into the convoluted world of cross-border tensions, legal hurdles, and international diplomacy, all while telling the powerful story of one man’s wrangle against bureaucratic obstacles.
Though it might sound like the plot of a Netflix docuseries, the film is a gripping political thriller led by a compelling performance from John Abraham. Fans have also shared positive reviews about John’s acting skills in the film, hailing some of the climax scenes.
“Diplomacy is a battlefield where words carry more weight than weapons. Playing JP Singh allowed me to explore a world where power is defined by intellect, resilience, and quiet heroism. Uzma’s story is a testament to India’s strength and courage, and I’m proud to bring this inspiring journey to life,” Abraham told News18.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, John Abraham, and others, the film features a strong supporting cast including Sharib Hashmi, Revathy, and Kumud Mishra.
