Digital Dubai has revealed the UAE’s first Emirati virtual family, following overwhelming community participation in an initiative to select a name for the pioneering AI-generated character.

Nearly 14,000 people took part in the vote, with “Latifa” emerging as the winning name, securing 43% of the votes, followed by “Mira” (37%) and “Dubai” (20%).

In a video shared on social media, Latifa introduced herself and presented her virtual family, which includes her father, Mohammed, her mother, Salama, and her brother, Rashid.

This virtual family represents the first-ever Emirati digital model inspired by national values, created to connect with diverse community segments and languages. The initiative supports Digital Dubai’s mission to create innovative media tools that encourage smart communication and simplify awareness of digital government services.

Strengthening Community Engagement

The announcement forms part of initiatives launched during the “Year of Community,” declared by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to promote participation and constructive engagement with residents.

Digital Dubai envisions the virtual family as “digital ambassadors,” producing storytelling content that reflects daily digital life in Dubai, fosters a culture of technology, and reinforces digital transformation in an engaging, relatable manner.

What’s Next

In the coming phase, Digital Dubai will develop integrated communication identities for each family member, rolling out storytelling and awareness content tailored for various age groups. The initiative aims to make digital services more accessible through educational and entertaining formats.

Latifa and her family will soon appear across multiple social media platforms to highlight Digital Dubai’s initiatives and promote safe, responsible digital behaviour.
