Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club successfully organized the Arilah 60ft Dhow Sailing Race, a key heritage event within the UAE’s traditional racing calendar.
The race, which attracted more than 90 traditional sailing dhows competing along a 25-nautical-mile course, was won by the dhow “Al-Tebr 55,” owned by Rashid Mohammed bin Ghadir and captained by Mohammed Suhail Khalfan Al-Muhairi.
With a total prize pool of AED 4.2 million, the event brought together dhow owners, captains, and elite sailors in a vibrant display of skilled seamanship and maritime tradition. The competition forms part of the club’s seasonal program aimed at preserving the UAE’s rich maritime heritage and promoting traditional sailing skills among younger generations.
By organizing such races, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club continues to foster community engagement, safeguard national heritage, and sustain interest in the UAE’s historic maritime sports.
