Cybersecurity, AI governance, and digital sovereignty emerged as dominant themes during the fourth day of GITEX GLOBAL 2025, as government leaders, cybersecurity experts, and industry executives convened to address escalating threats in an increasingly AI-driven digital landscape.

The discussions highlighted the critical need for integrated security frameworks that combine technological innovation with robust governance models. His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, emphasized the importance of building a strong cyber culture, stating that people remain the first line of defense against evolving threats.

During the session “Cyber Resilience 2030: People, Policy & AI at the Core of National Security,” Dr. Al Kuwaiti outlined the UAE’s comprehensive cybersecurity approach, integrating governance structures, AI-powered threat detection, and public awareness initiatives. The UAE Cyber Security Council further solidified this direction by launching the UAE Cybersecurity Vision 2025 report, focusing on capacity-building, technology exchange, and international partnerships.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, stressed the need for agile policymaking to keep pace with AI’s rapid evolution, advocating proactive, well-informed regulation to effectively manage emerging risks.

International perspectives were prominently featured, with Dr. Neal Jetton, Director of Cybercrime at INTERPOL, detailing coordinated global efforts to combat AI-enabled cybercrime. Her Excellency Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Estonia’s Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs, highlighted the essential role of international cooperation in addressing cyber threats that transcend national borders.

Across the exhibition halls, leading cybersecurity firms demonstrated advanced protective technologies. Huawei showcased over 80 solutions under its “All Intelligence” theme, focusing on industrial intelligence, cloud services, and intelligent data centers. OPSWAT presented its MetaDefender Optical Diode for secure data transfer, while Fortinet and CrowdStrike featured AI-powered security platforms designed to protect endpoints, cloud workloads, and critical infrastructure.

The day also saw significant partnership developments, with Dubai Municipality and Fortinet International signing a memorandum of understanding to advance the emirate’s AI-enabled cybersecurity infrastructure, supporting secure digital transformation across public sector services.

As GITEX GLOBAL 2025 approaches its final day, the event has solidified its position as the world’s premier platform for addressing the complex intersection of technological innovation, cybersecurity, and digital governance in the AI era.
