According to the reports of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, the ambitious Dubai Metro Blue Line has already achieved 10 percent progress within five months of its commencement.
The estimated project value is AED 56.5 billion, with 30 kilometers, and involves 14 additional new stations.
These stations combine the already existing Red and Green Lines, which improves connectivity throughout the significant residential, economic, and educational areas of Dubai.
The RTA engaged over 500 engineers and professionals, besides 3,000 workers across 12 construction sites to ensure that the project was under schedule.
Director-General and Chairman of the RTA, Mattar Al Tayer, reported that the Dubai Metro Blue Line is progressing on schedule.
The project is scheduled to be completed by 30 percent by the end of 2026 to have a complete operational start on September 9, 2029.
The line will have a population capacity of approximately one million residents by 2040, as part of the Dubai Urban Plan and Economic Agenda to promote the “20-minute city” concept.
This project should cut traffic congestion by 20 percent and is expected to increase property values around stations surge up to 25 percent.
The safety standards are also kept at a priority level, as demonstrated by the fact that over three million work hours were done without any fatality recorded.
The major achievements involve more than 260 deep foundations and the excavation of 400,000 cubic meters.
In addition, there are two ready-mix concrete plants set up at Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City to serve the current construction activities.
The Blue Line will also reflect two journeys, such as one that stretches from Creek Interchange Station in Al Jaddaf to Dubai Academic City, and the other links Centrepoint Interchange Station in Al Rashidiya with International City.
Another feature of the project is the Emaar Station, which will be the tallest metro station in the world. It will be 74 metres high with a capacity of 240,000 passengers each day by 2040.
This station is designed as a transport station as well as a landmark that will represent the commitment of Dubai to future-oriented infrastructure.
The UAE Railway Programme, together with the Dubai Metro Blue Line, has also played a key part in the transport strategy since its introduction in 2021, which involves Etihad Rail construction.
However, the passenger operation of the line is expected to be launched in 2026.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE unveiled in November a transport plan worth AED 170 billion ($46.3 billion), which seeks to increase the road infrastructure drastically by 2030.
