Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, has transformed its ground fleet with the latest-generation Euro 6 trucks by MAN Trucks, in collaboration with Allied Transport Company.
Emirates SkyCargo is the first firm in the region to implement the long-haul heavy commercial Euro 6 models, with 40 new vehicles entering the fleet, bringing the latest technology to on-road logistics with the introduction of the most progressive trucking technology into the service.
Euro 6 engine is capable of fulfilling the strictest emissions criteria worldwide, with the number of pollutants generated being significantly lower than in earlier models.
With 40 of its current trucks being replaced by 40 Euro 6 models, Emirates SkyCargo is projected to reduce its annual carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions as a result of trucking activities by 17 percent.
The program fortifies the overall airline’s broader commitment to adopting fuel-and emissions-saving solutions throughout all regions of its ground operations.
Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, Badr Abbas, said that “The addition of the Euro 6 trucks to our fleet is an important evolution in our commitment to more sustainable operations, and to investing in future-ready technology that will fuel our next era of growth. We expect cargo volumes to and through Dubai will continue to grow, driven by Dubai’s strategic Economic Agenda, and are ready to play our part in better facilitating global trade by deploying the right equipment and infrastructure across our operations.”
In addition to the reduction of emissions, the Euro 6 trucks also have advanced driver-assistance and safety systems. Each vehicle has kerb mirrors, reverse cameras, and blind-spot monitoring for enhanced 360° visibility.
Smart driver-assist systems like AI-driven Driver Monitoring System give immediate notifications in case the system detects indicators of distraction or fatigue, and will help improve the overall safety on the road.
Dual camera systems allow improving security and operational visibility of activity as well, and record forward and in-cabin view with the help of GPS and cloud-based tracking of live fleet position, real-time video transmission, and data-driven performance insights.
CEO of Allied Transport LLC, Ali Bin Beyat, added that “The long-term relationship between Allied Transport and Emirates SkyCargo reflects our shared commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability in logistics. The introduction of the first long-haul Euro 6 fleet to the Middle East marks a major step forward in our collective effort to drive cleaner, smarter, and more efficient transport operations. At Allied Transport, we believe that efficiency and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, and this milestone showcases how enduring industry relationships and advanced technologies can together create meaningful progress toward a more sustainable future for regional logistics.”
Trucks working with over 1,000 tons of cargo every day, the fleet of Emirates SkyCargo trucks is integral to the connection between the Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and the Dubai International Airport (DXB) through the 77 km bonded roadway, which is crossed up to six times per day by each truck.
The implementation of the Euro 6 fleet helps to optimize the work effortlessly and introduces new sustainability and performance standards to the dual-airport cargo operations of the airline.
