Goodyear and Peugeot have taken a major step toward next-generation mobility with the global reveal of the Peugeot Polygon, a concept car that showcases deep integration between intelligent tire systems and advanced vehicle technology. The debut, announced in Dubai, marks the first time Goodyear’s smart tire platform, SightLine, has been embedded directly into a vehicle cockpit.

The collaboration highlights how tire intelligence is becoming a critical component of future automotive innovation, moving beyond mechanical performance to data-driven safety and predictive maintenance.

Tires as Data Engines

Goodyear’s SightLine system uses embedded sensors and cloud-connected analytics to deliver real-time information on tire health, road conditions, wear, and safety risks. In the Polygon concept, these insights are displayed through the car’s heads-up interface or integrated with its autonomous and drive-by-wire systems to support instant responses.

The technology can detect aquaplaning hazards before they occur, alert drivers to tire wear and adjust vehicle performance settings as tires age — a step toward predictive maintenance becoming standard in smart mobility.

“SightLine is more than technology — it’s a vision for connected mobility,” said Ben Glesener, Senior Technology Director, Product Development, Consumer EMEA at Goodyear. “By partnering with Peugeot, we are envisioning an ecosystem where tires become active contributors to vehicle intelligence.”

While showcased in a concept car, Goodyear noted that SightLine is already available in several markets, underscoring its near-term commercial viability.

Three Custom Tires for Three Driving Modes

Peugeot designed the Polygon with three configurations — Urban, Player and Explorer — each with distinct performance needs. To match these modes, Goodyear engineered three bespoke tires, emphasizing both capability and design aesthetics.

• Urban & Player Tires:
Feature the iconic Eagle F1 tread pattern, celebrating its 45-year legacy in high-performance driving.

• Explorer Tire:
Inspired by the rugged Goodyear Wrangler series, built for multi-terrain grip and adventurous driving.

Goodyear also introduced new aesthetic elements, including colored and laser-etched sidewalls, reflecting an industry shift where tires play a visual and functional role in vehicle identity.

A New Phase in Automotive Collaboration

The partnership exemplifies a growing trend toward connected, sensor-driven mobility where components once considered passive — such as tires — become intelligent data sources that inform vehicle behavior.

With both companies pushing innovation in design and smart systems, the Polygon concept highlights a future where vehicle intelligence extends beyond software to every component that interacts with the road.
