Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the 2025 Zayed Charity Run will commence tomorrow, Saturday, starting at Wahat Al Karama and concluding at Erth Abu Dhabi.
More than 10,000 participants of diverse nationalities and age groups will take part, showcasing a powerful expression of the values of generosity and community unity established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The run embodies a leading humanitarian and scientific mission, with all proceeds allocated to three advanced research programmes at the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Centre. These include developing an innovative cancer treatment using tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, creating an AI-driven platform to enhance precision medicine for multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes, and conducting research to produce cutting-edge dermatological therapies using chorionic tissues to promote skin regeneration and faster wound healing.
Collectively, these projects highlight the UAE’s dedication to medical innovation and its pursuit of sustainable, transformative benefits for future generations.
The event features a total prize pool of AED 1.5 million, fostering a competitive spirit and motivating runners to reach their strongest performance.
Race day will begin with the 10 km run at 7:00 am, followed by the 5 km race at 7:15 am, and the 3 km category at 7:30 am. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 am.
Lt. General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Run, emphasized that exceeding 10,000 participants represents more than just a figure; it reflects the distinguished standing the event has earned.
He added, “The Zayed Charity Run has become a firmly rooted national event in the hearts of the community, an occasion people not only anticipate, but participate in with deep belief in its noble message. With every stride, the run embodies belonging; with every objective, it reflects generosity; and in its atmosphere, it offers a sincere call for better health and greater humanity.”
Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said, “The Zayed Charity Run is one of Abu Dhabi’s most prominent community and humanitarian events, combining sports, charity, and health awareness in a way that reflects the legacy of the Founding Father and the noble values of the UAE.”
He added, “Year after year, the event continues to expand its humanitarian impact, especially as its proceeds support specialized medical research that improves patients’ lives and strengthens the country’s healthcare innovation ecosystem.”
Run kit collection will conclude on Friday evening, after opening Monday at Erth Abu Dhabi. The process saw a strong turnout from participants eager to finalise their preparations ahead of race day.
To ensure seamless logistics, designated parking areas and complimentary shuttle buses will operate from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Zayed Sports City between 4:30 am and 6:30 am. Roads leading to the starting point will close at 5:00 am.
Along the race route, cheering zones and scenic segments will be arranged, while the community village at Erth Abu Dhabi will host family-friendly activities, children’s experiences, live entertainment, and food and beverage stations.
