UAE Air Defence Intercepts 165 Ballistic Missiles And 541 Drones Since Start Of Iranian Attack

The UAE Ministry of Defence has announced that the UAE Air Force and Air Defence Forces have intercepted and neutralised 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 Iranian drones since the beginning of the Iranian attack on 28 February 2026. This showcases the effectiveness of UAE Air Defence in protecting the nation.

According to the ministry, during the morning of the second day of the attack alone, air defence systems destroyed 20 ballistic missiles, while eight missiles fell into the sea waters. Two cruise missiles were also intercepted and destroyed, along with 311 drones, highlighting the critical role of UAE Air Defence. However, 21 drones struck civilian locations.

The ministry stated that, since the start of the hostilities, 165 ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards the UAE were detected. Of these, 152 were successfully destroyed by air defence systems, while 13 fell into the sea. In addition, two cruise missiles were detected and intercepted before reaching their intended targets.

Authorities also confirmed that a total of 541 drones were identified. Of these, 506 were intercepted and destroyed, while 35 fell within the country, resulting in material damage.

The incidents led to three fatalities involving Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals. A further 58 people sustained minor injuries, including individuals of Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, and Afghan nationalities.

The ministry noted that debris from intercepted ballistic missiles and drones fell in various areas across the country, causing minor to moderate damage to civilian properties.

Officials affirmed the operational capability and preparedness of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence Forces to counter diverse aerial threats. The ministry reiterated that it remains fully prepared to address any escalation and emphasised that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains a non-negotiable priority.
